Spurs have picked up both Barclays Premier League’s monthly awards for February.
Gareth Bale was named player of the month whilst André Villas-Boas was awarded the manager of the month award.
Bale has been in tremendous form, scoring 8 goals in his last 6 games. He scored the winner in 2 of Spurs’ 3 Premier League games in February, including that incredible winner in the last minute of the game at West Ham. In the Europa League his two free-kicks also made the difference against Lyon at White Hart Lane.
“We’re getting better and better with every game, we’re gelling and as I’ve said before, we work together. Whoever gets these awards, it’s a team game and no one can do it on their own,” said Gareth.
“I’ve been enjoying my football probably more than I ever have and when you are enjoying your football, you give your best performances.”
Villas-Boas’ team is flying high at the moment. They are unbeaten in the league since 15 November, when they lost 2-1 away at Everton. Spurs managed to get the full 9 points out of their 3 Premier League games in February. The team also advanced to the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League after beating Olympique Lyonnais 3-2 on aggregate.
“I’m extremely happy for everybody. It’s been a good month. I think we continued to show the level of form since the beginning of the season that can make us reach our objectives.
“This is an award we share with everybody. Everybody has been key. Obviously we have to recognize Gareth’s tremendous run and goalscoring form. I think he’s really enjoying his football.
“It doesn’t mean it stops here. We have teams in behind us chasing the same objectives. We have to bridge the gap and that will put us in a more comfortable position.
“At the moment everything is going well, but we have to keep this consistency going until the end of the season,”said Villas-Boas.
